# Connect Google Ads

> Link a Google Ads account to AdCue from Connections so MCP and the app can use it.

# Connect Google Ads

Link Google Ads so AdCue (website and MCP clients sharing your account) can read performance and run approved tools.

## Before you start

* An [AdCue account](/create-account)
* A Google identity with access to the Google Ads customers you manage
* Admin or standard access on those customers (or a manager identity with **direct** access)

<Note>
  Manager (MCC) identities are supported. Linked client accounts are **not** listed automatically unless the Google identity also has direct access to them.
</Note>

## Where to connect

Open **Connections** in the app shell:

[https://adcue.app/app/connections](https://adcue.app/app/connections)

You can also start connection flows from Setup or product prompts that deep-link to Connections.

## How to connect

1. Sign in to AdCue and open [Connections](https://adcue.app/app/connections).
2. Choose **Connect Google Ads**. Confirm the read-only email hint (expected identity, not a password field).
3. Select **Connect**. On Google’s consent screen, pick the identity that can access your ad accounts and approve the **Google Ads** scope (`https://www.googleapis.com/auth/adwords`).
4. If several directly accessible customers appear, pick a **primary** account. A single account is selected automatically.
5. Confirm the panel shows connected status, primary account, and accessible account count.

Website and MCP sessions share the **same** stored connection — you do not connect twice for each client.

## What AdCue can and cannot do

| Can                                                              | Cannot without you                                    |
| ---------------------------------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------- |
| Read campaign structure and metrics you authorize | Spend budget on its own |
| Create or change entities **only** when you approve a write tool | Access Gmail, Drive, Calendar, or non-Ads Google data |
| Pause / resume / remove when tools are invoked with confirmation | Bypass destructive confirm flags |

Creates still land **PAUSED**. See [Safety model](/mcp/safety).

## After connecting

* List accounts and campaigns from an AI client or future product surfaces
* Reconnect with another Google identity if you picked the wrong one
* **Refresh accounts** from the connection panel after infrastructure fixes (no full OAuth required when refresh tokens remain valid)
* Disconnect at any time from Connections / Settings

## Troubleshooting

| Problem                       | What to try                                                                                                          |
| ----------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| No accounts found | Reconnect with the Google identity that owns or has direct access to the customer |
| Access denied | Ask the account owner for admin/standard access in Google Ads |
| Connected but discovery empty | Use **Refresh accounts**; ensure Google Ads API access is healthy on AdCue’s side (support can check service status) |
| Consent screen does not open | Allow pop-ups; retry Connect; try another browser |
| Wrong primary account | Select another primary from the connection panel |

Still stuck? Email [support@adcue.app](mailto:support@adcue.app) with the step that failed (do not send tokens or secrets).
